Design the day around your interests
Tell the desk which experiences appeal to you and whether you want to enter the water at all. A non-diver may be an enthusiastic snorkeler, a photographer or someone who simply enjoys a scenic voyage. These are different briefs, and each benefits from a clear description of activities and suitable alternatives.
Ask how the program works alongside diving
If you are joining a mixed group, find out whether snorkeling and island activities happen at the same time as dives or at separate stops. Ask who accompanies non-divers and what the tender arrangement allows. A promise that non-divers are welcome does not explain what your own day will feel like.
Choose comfort and access deliberately
Review boat seating, shade, rest space and boarding steps, especially if you expect to spend more time aboard than in the water. Ask about the effort involved in viewpoint walks and landings. Keep the route flexible so that a suitable boat or shore experience remains available when conditions do not favor a water activity.
Your planning checklist
- Choose scenery, photography, snorkeling or quiet time.
- Ask for a non-diver daily program.
- Confirm guiding and tender arrangements.
- Review boarding and shore-access requirements.
Good questions, clear answers.
Can I travel if I do not swim?
Discuss the proposed boat, boarding and shore activities with the operator. Do not assume all advertised excursions are suitable.
Will I be left aboard during every dive?
That depends on the voyage. Ask for the actual options and staffing arrangements before choosing a departure.
